Intense
These are fast-moving, intensive courses, covering the whole syllabus in 13 or 15 lessons. Each lesson will cover several topics, and there will be up to ninety minutes of homework each week.
It is important not to miss any lessons or get behind with the homework, as some of the topics are cumulative.
The students most likely to benefit from this course will probably have already passed ABRSM Grade 5 on an instrument or voice and have a good knowledge of the basic rudiments of theory.
This course is ideal if you are prepared to work hard, and are able to focus on theory for the duration of the course.
One of the main school holidays – either Christmas, Easter or the summer break – and one or two half term breaks will be within each course, which gives the student a few weeks off and a chance to consolidate what has been covered so far.
At the first lesson, each student will be given a ‘goodie bag’ worth over £20 containing a ring binder in which to keep all study material, a pencil case with a pen, pencil and ruler, and the first of two sets of flash cards, with the second set being given approximately halfway through the course. The flash cards include all of the Italian, French and German terms together with other performance directions that are required knowledge for the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Exam.
The cost of the entire course, including the exam entry fee (currently £51), all study material including past papers, flash cards and stationery is £475, representing exceptional value for money. If you wish to pay the full amount at the time of booking, a discount of £25 is available. Alternatively, please pay a non-refundable deposit of £75 at the time of booking, and the balance by monthly standing order payments over the duration of the course.
If booking two siblings at the same time, a discount of £50 from the total cost is available.
