Two-stage
In response to the demand for something at a slightly slower pace, there is now the option to break your journey to Grade 5 by taking Grade 3 ABRSM Music Theory! There is a 26 week course to Grade 3, followed by a further 26 weeks to Grade 5.
Both courses move at a fairly relaxed pace – there will usually be one new topic for each lesson, and a small amount of homework each week.
The students most likely to benefit from this course will probably have already passed ABRSM Grade 2 on an instrument. It’s an ideal way to get a good grounding in Music Theory before taking on the additional challenges of Grade 5.
One of the main school holidays – either Christmas, Easter or the summer break – and one or two half term breaks will be within each course, which gives the student a few weeks off and a chance to consolidate what has been covered so far.
At the first lesson, each student will be given a ‘goodie bag’ worth over £20 containing a ring binder in which to keep all study material, a pencil case with a pen, pencil and ruler, and the first of two sets of flash cards, with the second set being given approximately halfway through the course. The flash cards include all of the Italian, French and German terms together with other performance directions that are required knowledge for the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Exam, so this puts the student in an ideal position to then progress to Grade 5.
The cost of each stage, including the exam entry fee (currently £44 for Grade 3, £51 for Grade 5), all study material including past papers, flash cards and stationery is £375, representing exceptional value for money. If you wish to pay the full amount at the time of booking, a discount of £25 is available. Alternatively, please pay a non-refundable deposit of £75 at the time of booking, and the balance by monthly standing order payments over the duration of the course.
If booking two siblings at the same time, a discount of £50 from the total cost is available.
